PURPOSE

God's love for me has been my primary source of sustenance since I was born. Similarly my Jamaican family has been the main stay of my life. This ministry is dedicated to "al a we" for we are all "smady" (somebody) in Christ. This means that everybody is also my neighbour - lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, fluid, heterosexual and celibate - everyone!

I realise that some of my people of African descent will consider this web site, non-Christian and possibly offensive. I make no apologies for my belief that God is impartial and loves us all. I am not one who believes it doesn't matter what our sexuality is with God as I do not believe that God loves us regardless of our gender identities and sexual orientations, as if these aspects of our lives do not matter. Who we are in Christ does matter. I believe God regards and honours who we are in the totality of ourselves as created beings, made in the image of God.

Just as our culture and race matters, our emotional health and physical relationships also matter as part of our overall wellbeing. These are part of who are, as Temples of the Holy Spirit. God is involved in all aspects of our lives including our sexual health as an integral part of the sacred celebration of our lives. For those who say "God created Adam and Eve and not Adam and Steve" - I say God did - God created all of us. We all contain within us the Holy Spirit of God, our Creator.

I am called to an affirming ministry primarily to those of us of African-Caribbean descent, our friends and families in today's multicultural Britain. It also extends to all within the African diaspora. It does not exclude anyone and I sincerely welcome all who may find it of value and who understand that I minister from a particular location and culture. Within my overall ministry, I am a retired Minister with Metropolitan Community Church, founded by an ex Assemblies of God pastor. It has a special outreach to the lgbti community. Whilst MCC was founded in the USA and its membership is predominantly of European descent, my main concern is black church life here in the UK. Presently there are no black denominations, churches, assemblies etc that will sanction my kind of ministry. From the margins of MCC, I am part of the bi-annual Conference of People of African Descent. MCC is currently one of only a few Christian denominations that ordains people of diverse gender identities and sexual orientations, here in the UK. I am conscious that there are black lgbti people within MCC UK as members and also on its boundaries as visitors and friends. In 2004, I became the first person of African Descent to be ordained within the three decades of MCC's presence in the UK. My ministry is dedicated to the building of an affirming and conscious black church for the twenty first century, rooted in the UK, that speaks to the needs of us, as people of African descent, our friends and families.

We are our sister’s and brother’s keeper. We are not excused because we do not agree with each other's life styles or points of view. We are still family. We are still called to love the Lord our God with all our hearts and our neighbour as ourselves.
